Oudtshoorn

Once we got into Oudtshoorn we headed to the Ostrich Farm ..which is what this area is known for. We went on a tour and learned alot about the Ostrich. Here are the pics...


These are eggs.. they are huge and very thick (can't remember exactly how thick) but you can stand on them without them breaking.


This is an incubator that half of the eggs are hatched.


These are 5 week old babies..

Did you know that the males are black in color and the females are brown...


They gave us the opportunity to ride them... so I snapped a few photos of the brave ones...



Then they had their "jockey's" race for us...funny!!!

The other thing we realized is that once you go to the interior of South Africa it gets hot and humid!! Oudtshoorn was very hot.. close to 100 degrees fahrenheit, no breeze and humid. Here at the coast we get alot of breeze and it is about 20 degrees cooler!

Oudtshoorn was fun.. and after a nights rest we are off to our next destination.
